(57) (Summary) In a communication system using a discrete multi-tone (DMT) high-speed digital link, an outer path from a central transceiver to another transceiver uses a set of carrier frequency channels, The signal return path uses a different set of carrier frequency channels. In one form, the central transceiver is a switch and another transceiver is a subscriber connected to the switch.
