Abstract  Abstract

The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for controlling a transmission mode in a mobile communication system using multiple transmit / receive antennas. The receiver apparatus according to the present invention includes an error checker for checking an error of received data and outputting an error check result, and adaptively changing a channel state value threshold for determining a transmission mode according to the error check result. And a feedback unit which compares the changed threshold value with the measured channel state value to determine a transmission mode and feeds back to the transmitter. As described above, the present invention has the advantage of constructing a more efficient communication system that can have a maximum transmission rate and a minimum error probability according to a channel environment.
