Abstract
The present invention proposes a method and apparatus for efficiently performing an uplink timing sync procedure with a target cell during handover of an active mode terminal (UE) in a mobile communication system. The cell transmitter signals to the UE that it is not necessary to perform an uplink timing sink procedure in the target cell according to the cell structure, and the UE receiving the signaling does not perform an unnecessary uplink timing sink procedure to the target cell, and the source cell. Uplink transmission is continuously performed in the destination cell while maintaining the uplink timing used by the UE.
