Abstract  Abstract

A synchronization method according to the present invention for terminal-to-terminal direct communication in a TDMA mobile communication system includes detecting signals transmitted from peripheral transmitters in accordance with transmission timing for normal communication involving a base station; Selecting a signal having the strongest output among the detected signals as the strongest interference signal; Detecting a first signal transmitted according to a transmission timing for the normal communication from a transmitter for terminal to terminal direct communication; Comparing the first arrival time of the first signal with the second arrival time of the strongest interference signal; Obtaining an adjustment control command for causing the transmitter to adjust the transmission timing of the first signal based on a result of the comparison of the first and second arrival times, and feeding back the adjustment control command to the transmitter. This invention solves the synchronization problem of direct communication in a TDD mobile communication system.
