Abstract  Abstract

The present invention relates to techniques for performing encryption and reordering using a single full sequence number. The transmitter encrypts input packets to obtain encrypted packets, with each input packet being encrypted in full sequence number. The transmitter generates output packets for the encrypted packets, each output packet being used for reordering and including a partial sequence number derived from the full sequence number. The full sequence number may be increased for each input packet or each byte of each packet. The partial sequence number may be used as the sequence number for RLC and may be used for reordering, duplicate detection, error correction, and / or other functions. The receiver performs complementary processing, reorders received packets based on the number of partial sequences included in each packet, and decrypts the received packets using the number of partial sequences included in each received packet. .
