Abstract  Abstract

The present invention relates to a user terminal supporting multi-spatial multiplexing (SM) modes, such as coordinated mode and unregulated mode. For data transmission, multiple data streams are coded and modulated according to their selected rate to obtain multiple data symbol streams. These streams are spatially processed according to the selected SM mode (e.g., coordination vector matrix for coordination mode and unit matrix for uncoordination mode) to obtain a plurality of transmit symbol streams for transmission from multiple antennas. For data reception, multiple received symbol streams are spatially processed according to the selected SM mode (e.g., eigenvector matrix for coordination mode and spatial filter matrix for uncoordination mode) to obtain a plurality of recovered data symbol streams. These streams are demodulated and decoded according to their selected rate to obtain multiple decoded data streams.
