Abstract
PURPOSE: A device for selecting a beam and a method thereof are provided to obtain optimal transmission efficiency in a beam forming based wireless communication. CONSTITUTION: One or more antenna units comprise a plurality of antenna elements. A transmission unit(1020) transmits the reception information of a direction detecting signal for each time section of a direction detecting channel. A control unit(1010) confirms the reception of the direction detecting signal through each time section of the direction detecting channel. The control unit selects one of the transmission beam patterns or the reception beam patterns from a mobile station by considering a received random access signal by converting the reception beam pattern through a random access channel.
