Abstract
A method in a wireless device for performing random access to a network node is provided. The method includes receiving a set of downlink beam-specific reference signals BRS from a network node, and determining a desired BRS based on the received signal power for each BRS. The method also includes, based on the preferred BRS, selecting a random access resource that is used to transmit a random access attempt to a network node, and selecting a random access resource selected when transmitting the random access attempt to a network node , Whereby the selection of the random access resource indicates to the desired downlink network node by the wireless device in which the downlink beam is used for the downlink transmission.
