Abstract
Dynamically changing the transmission rate of the traffic flow through each of the primary and secondary bands allows the transmission point to satisfy QoS requirements for the integrated air interface. QoS requirements may stipulate that the overall transmission rate of the traffic flow over the integrated air interface exceeds the threshold. The transmission rate may be changed based on the contention level of the auxiliary band. For example, in a high contention period, the transmission rate in the primary band may be increased to compensate for a lower effective transmission rate for the secondary band. Similarly, in a low contention period, the transmission rate in the main band may be stepped down to compensate for a higher effective transmission rate over the subband.
