Abstract  Abstract

A technique for a user equipment (UE) operable to communicate in a device to device (D2D) network is disclosed. Proximity detection requests can be communicated to an evolved packet core (EPC). The proximity detection request includes a window parameter, identification information of the second UE, and proximity detection signal indicating whether the proximity detection request is for proximity detection of the second UE or to establish a D2D connection with the second UE . The proximity warning message may be received from the EPC in a window parameter.
