This Augmented SEP database enhances the existing ETSI database by allowing patent owners to clarify which patents they believe are SEPs after the standard is stable and the patents are granted, and then to provide more detailed information accordingly. The ultimate goal of this enhanced information is to create a more transparent IPR environment to aid those implementing cellular standards, and, in turn, help promote the development of new products and services for consumers. The project is currently in alpha version. Legal Notice: Patent holders voluntarily provide information about ETSI-declared patents in the Augmented SEP Database enabling users to determine whether patents are essential to various standardized features. Provision of the voluntary information is done in accordance with a voluntary pledge patent holders undertake to share this information for use by others. Database contents are provided for informational purposes only and shall not be used by any party in any proceeding to construe patent claim terms in any jurisdiction. While database contents are believed current and complete, patent holders periodically update data. As a result, database users should understand that no guarantees are made regarding complete accuracy of database contents. Database users should also understand that patent assets omitted from the database may be essential or may not be essential. Database contents may change periodically so users should understand that database contents may not be current at time of use.
