Abstract
Methods and apparatus for registering machine-to-machine communications are disclosed. The methods provide a single periodic record and can be based on the device or the network. The devices in the system can be divided into groups. A single member of the device can develop the basic access stages for the group. Other devices may receive all related access information in a control channel and use the information to access the system. Devices can send data, get updates and enter a cycle of inactivity. Internet addresses can be sent or maintained. During the control cycle, the devices can be activated and listen to the control channel for any search message. Individual devices or the entire group can access the system. During a reporting cycle, all devices can be activated and access the system to connect to the M2M system to load the data.
