MAPPING and ALLOCATION OF RESOURCES IN A WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Techniques for mapping and allocating resources in a wireless communication system are described. The system can use ports-hop to facilitate the allocation and use of subcarrier. In one aspect the ports-hop can be divided into multiple subzones each subzone including a configurable number of hop-ports. The hop-ports within each subzone may be exchanged or mixed based on a permutation function. After the exchange the ports-heel in all the subareas can be mapped in subcarrier based on local or global jumps. In another aspect a set of hop-ports may be mapped to a set of subcarrier. A door-hop can be mapped to a subcarrier unavailable and can then be re-mapped in another available subcarrier. In another aspect a set of hop-ports may be mapped to a set of distributed subcarrier (for example homogeneously) by means of all the subcarrier but avoiding the subcarrier in a reserved area.
