Abstract  Abstract

The invention claims techniques for supporting narrow band device operating in a broadband network of the device and method described herein. user equipment (UE) capable of acquiring control channel in the narrow bandwidth device region of the downlink sub-frame. can receive the control channel in the new carrier type of the (NO) the new carrier type is realized according to the standard of the 3GPP family of standards. does not include the cell-specific reference signal on the NO carrier.

Apparatuses and methods for supporting operation of narrow bandwidth devices within a broadband network are described herein. A user equipment (UE) may retrieve control channels within a narrow bandwidth device region of a downlink subframe. The control channels may be received in a subcarrier of a new carrier type (NCT) implemented in accordance with a standard of the 3GPP family of standards. Cell-specific reference signals may be excluded on the NCT subcarrier.
