Abstract  Abstract

Method and apparatus for transmitting / receiving status reporting on a communication engine system where Automatic Repeat ReQuest (ARQ) and Hybrid Automatic Repeat ReQuest (HARQ) work together. An ARQ (Rx) receiving entity determines whether the transmission of the status report is allowed if a predefined status report generation condition is met. If transmission of the status report is allowed, the ARQ Rx entity generates a status report depending on the state of receiving the ARQ packets received until the time the state report is transmitted, and transmits the generated status report to an ARQ transmission entity (TX). through an assigned transmission source. The ARQ Tx entity specifies the HARQ packet initial receiving time that includes the status report as the time to create the status report and performs reloading according to the status report.
