A user equipment unit, UE, capable of conducting an initial cell search and establishing a communication link with a base station in a communication network, such that the UE comprises: a first module (12), configured to process or process a primary synchronization code of the communication signal and assign an index value to a peak sample of said communication signal, such that said index value is used to calculate a chip mismatch of a code of primary cryptographic mixture; a second module (14), configured to use the calculated chip mismatch to detect a group number of cryptographic mix code, a slot mismatch and a secondary synchronization code of the communication signal; a third module (16), configured to retrieve a primary cryptographic mix code of said communication signal based on the chip mismatch, the cryptographic mix code group number and the slot mismatch; and a controller (18), connected to said first module, said second module and said third module, and configured to control a setting of a search frequency in said UE in order to allow the third module to retrieve the mix code primary cryptographic of said communication signal, characterized in that said controller (18) additionally comprises: a first intermediate storage register (13), configured to store rejected primary cryptographic mixing codes; a second buffer register (19), connected to the first module (12) and configured to store rejected chip mismatch vectors; a logical decision circuit (2), configured to determine if the detected cryptographic mix code is correct; and a window exclusion circuit (6), connected to the first intermediate storage register (13), the second intermediate storage register (9) and the decision logic circuit (2), and configured to detect public land mobile networks, PLMNs, to check the cryptographic mixing code detected against the codes stored in said first intermediate storage register (13), in order to reject said detected cryptographic mixing code if the detected cryptographic mixing code is in the first record of buffer (13) or an incorrect PLMN is detected, and overcome a rejection caused by an incorrect PLMN.
