Abstract  Abstract

A procedure for planning the transmission of data in a wireless communication system (100), the procedure being implemented by a base station (104), and the method comprising: forming multiple sets of terminals (106) to receive the data transmission from the base station (104) in a next transmission interval, each set including one or more terminals (106), and corresponding to a different hypothesis, to be evaluated based on one or more criteria, where the multiple sets of terminals (106 ) include a first set of one or more terminals (106) corresponding to a first hypothesis to evaluate, and a second set of one or more terminals (106) corresponding to a second hypothesis to evaluate, and wherein said one or more terminals (106) in the first set, one or more terminals (106) in the second set are different; assign a plurality of transmission antennas (524) to said one or more terminals (106) in each set; evaluate the performance of each hypothesis based on the channel status information, CSI, associated with each terminal (106), the CSI indicative of the channel characteristics between the respective terminal (106) and the corresponding transmitting antennas (524); select one of the multiple hypotheses evaluated, based on performance; and plan the transmission of data to said one or more terminals (106) in the selected hypothesis.
