Abstract  Abstract

A method of decoding symbols (220, 710, 910) of origin from symbols (230, 720, 920) desalted encoded by chain reaction, in which the output symbols are generated in a chain reaction encoder obtained at from the symbols of origin, in which a degree of an output symbol is the number of non-decoded symbols of origin associated with said output symbol, the procedure comprising: (i) receiving a first set of output symbols; (ii) retrieve origin symbols from the grade one exit symbols contained in the first set of exit symbols; (iia) determine that no exit symbol within the chain reaction code is associated with only an origin symbol; (iii) deactivate an origin symbol associated with an exit symbol of degree two or greater, thereby reducing the degree of any output symbol associated with a deactivated origin symbol by one, in which (iii) deactivation of the origin symbol selected produces a deactivated origin symbol and one or more recoverable origin symbols, where each recoverable origin symbol is associated with an output symbol of degree one, where the degree is determined as specified above, but considering the deactivated origin symbol as decoded; (iv) if an origin symbol is associated with an exit symbol of degree one, declare that the origin symbol is recoverable; (v) repeat steps (iii) and (iv) if any origin symbol is associated with an output symbol of degree two or more; and (vi) decode the origin symbols that have been deactivated and decode additional origin symbols non-decoded, declared as recoverable from reduced-grade output symbols, reduced by decoded deactivated origin symbols; and (vii) request a second set of exit symbols if it is determined that not all source symbols have been retrieved.
