Abstract  Abstract

A method of decoding symbols (220, 710, 910) of origin that were encoded using a code by chain reaction, in which the decoding of an origin symbol comprises determining an origin symbol value for that origin symbol, between a set of output symbols (230, 720, 920), each output symbol being associated with one or more of the plurality of origin symbols, in that a value of the output symbol is a function of the values of one or more of the plurality of origin symbols, in which an output of an output symbol is the number of non-decoded origin symbols on which this output symbol depends, and to which it is therefore associated, the procedure comprising: in a decoding process by chain reaction, identify an output symbol having a degree of one and decode (316) said origin symbol associated with the identified output symbol, determining thus a value of this symbol of origin; if there is no output symbol of degree one, select (321) one from the plurality of origin symbols that is associated with an associated output symbol degraded two or higher, where the selection of one from the plurality of origin symbols it comprises selecting a symbol of origin to obtain the largest number of exit symbols remaining one, where a recorder of an output symbol is equal to the number of symbols of origin to which it is associated, excluding the selected symbols of origin; deactivate (322) the selected origin symbol and, if deactivation of the selected origin symbol results in at least one output symbol of the remaining degree one, declare (324) as recoverable the origin symbol associated with said at least one output symbol of remaining grade one; repeat (325) the selection (321) and deactivation (322) stages; determine (332) values for deactivated origin symbols; and recover (334) the origin symbols declared as recoverable using the values determined for the deactivated origin symbols.
