Abstract  Abstract

A method in a receiving node (120) for managing status information of data units transmitted by a sender node (110) into a receiving node (120) via a radio link (130), and the process comprises the steps of: determining (401) that a number of data units is missing ( 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8) sent by the sender node (110), sending (402) the reduced status message to the sender node (120) by radio link, this message is reduced to include a negative acknowledgment for the first a portion (2,3,4) of missing data units and omits negative acknowledgments for the rest (6,7,8) of missing data units, wherein the reduced status message positively confirms the data units (1,5) but does not include the first the missing data unit for which the negative acknowledgment is omitted in the reduced status message so that the omitted negative acknowledgment for the remainder (6,7,8) of the missing data node sender (110) will not be misinterpreted as being the received data units accurately, the positive validation being performed by setting the ACK_SN field for the first missing data unit and for which the negative acknowledgment is omitted in the reduced status message, which means that the data units under serial numbers up to but not including are validated , the first missing data unit and for which the negative confirmation is omitted, and explicitly excluding the negatively validated first part of the missing data units, and where the ACK_SN field is part of a reduced status message.
