Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for concealing influence of a frame error in a frame to be decoded by a decoder when a synthesized speech is provided.

SOLUTION: The influence of a defective frame received by the speech decoder via a communication channel is concealed by replacing the value of a parameter of the defective frame (the defective frame being either a deteriorated frame or a lost frame) with a value based upon an at least partly adaptive mean value of recently received effective frames. However in the case of the deteriorated frame (opposed to the lost frame) the defective frame itself is used when the defective frame meets specified standards. The purpose of concealment is to find a most suitable parameter for the defective frame and make subjective quality of the synthesized speech as high as possible.
