Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide transparent mobility of an entity within a network.

SOLUTION: A modem pool controller A (MPC A) determines that one of dedicated controllers (DC) is to be moved to an MPC B within another access point (1000) and a message including network interface associated information is transmitted to the MPC B (1010). The MPC B generates and initializes the DC (1020) and request the MPC A to complete the movement of the DC (1070). The MPC A instructs a local router to stop packets to the MPC A (1080) transmits remaining status information to the MPC B and cancels assignment of the DC. The MPC B completes the configuration of the DC transmits a message requesting layer resetting to an access terminal transmits an updating message to the local router and completes anchor point movement.
