Abstract  Abstract

Performing base station (BS) acquisition in an unplanned or unplanned radio access network is described herein. As an example, signal preambles are dynamically allocated to radio signal resources so that the preamble is incorporated into different resources over different cycles of the signal. Dynamic allocation is pseudo-random based on collision feedback or determined by an appropriate algorithm to mitigate collisions from dominant interference. Moreover, dynamic integration can be unique to the type of BS in order to significantly reduce collisions from different types of BSs. In at least one form, the preamble resource is subdivided into a number of frequency subcarrier tiles. Control channel information is transmitted to each tile of such a tile group, further mitigating the influence of dominant interferers on the subset of tile groups.
