Abstract  Abstract

In general, techniques for performing motion vector prediction for video coding are described. A video coding device comprising a processor may perform this technique. The processor identifies a plurality of candidate motion vectors for the current block of video data and one of the plurality of candidate motion vectors identified for the current block of video data to perform a motion vector prediction process. Alternatively, the plurality may be scaled to generate one or more scaled candidate motion vectors. The processor may then be configured to modify the scaled candidate motion vector to be within a specified range. (Selection) Figure 4
