Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide application of an improved type for signal strength weighting by an SDMA sectorized cellular network.

SOLUTION: Application of improved type signal strength weighting is carried out through selection of an improved type weighting from a new codebook subset or by selection of weighting from a larger codebook subset. In another embodiment a best beam (a plurality of best beams) are selectable by an SDMA sectorized cellular network by using an antenna beam index or bit map. In still another embodiment a field or factor in an uplink or downlink transmission packet can designate which directional transmission beam is optimum for transmission or when the directional transmission beam is to be activated.
