Abstract

Disclosed are systems and methods for inter-system mobility within an integrated LTE and trusted WLAN access network (TWAN). There is an X2 interface between the eNB and the WLAN access point, adapted for both control plane and user plane communications. A WLAN communicating with an EPC and having a UE attached to it communicates with the (H) eNB via the X2 interface in order to hand over the communication from the WLAN to the (H) eNB. Similarly, the (H) eNB having a UE attached to it communicates with the WLAN via the X2 interface in order to hand over the communication from the (H) eNB to the WLAN.
