Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain radio connection with a public telephone exchange network via a base station by providing a base band processor which executes various functions such as conversion of an input/output signal of one form bit stream into other form bit stream and cancellation of echo.

SOLUTION: A base band processor 22 has various functions and converts a 64kbps PCM signal into a 14.57kbps signal with a code conversion function such as residual excitation linear analysis prediction. Furthermore echo cancellation is conducted and a desired operating frequency is informed to a frequency synthesizer built in a subscriber equipment to act like a control microprocessor. Then the base band processor 22 is coupled with a MODEM processor 40 via a direct memory access 38 a signal from the MODEM processor 40 is converted into an analog signal and the base band processor 22 discriminates whether the subscriber equipment system is set in the transmission mode or the reception mode based on a specific signal from the base station.
