Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid ARQ (Automatic Retransmission Request) method for packet data transmission that reduces a communication overhead and eliminates complicated mounting.

SOLUTION: Packets having already been transmitted are connected to retransmitted packets. The packets are segmented according to a plurality of protocol data units (PDUs) and a sequence number is respectively given to each PDU for particularization purpose. Then the sequence numbers are transmitted through a control channel independently of data channels through which the PDUs are transmitted.
