Abstract  Abstract

Techniques for transmitting information without disturbance during changes in cryptographic configuration are described. The user equipment UE 110 communicates with the wireless communication network for a call. The UE transmits the first information to the wireless network using the first encryption configuration (612). For a change in the ciphering configuration, the UE selects 614 an activation time for the second ciphering configuration and sends 616 a secure message with an activation time. This active time applies the UE to the transmission of the second ciphering configuration over the wireless network. Thus, the UE transmits 618 the second information, e.g., a measurement report message, using the first cryptographic configuration, after sending the security message and before the activation time. The UE transmits the third information using the second encryption configuration after the activation time (622).
