MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK, INFRASTRUCTURE EQUIPMENT, MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS TERMINAL AND METHOD

Abstract

There is provided a mobile communication network for communicating data to / from communication devices, the network comprising: one or more base stations operable to provide a radio access interface to communication devices; One or more communication devices operable to exchange packets with one or more base stations via a wireless access interface; One or more packet gateways operable to transmit user data packets received via one or more base stations from one or more communication devices and / or to one or more communication devices; And one or more mobility managers operable to transmit and receive signaling packets that control user data communication between the communication devices and the packet gateways. The one or more mobility managers are configured to determine that when the packet is received from the communication device that includes the user data to be sent to the destination, the packet is not associated with any established signaling connection between the one or more mobility managers and the communication device &Lt; / RTI > The one or more mobility managers are operable, in response to the detection, to send user data contained in the signaling packet to a destination. Accordingly, short messages in the mobile communication network can be transmitted in a reduced context or contextless manner.
