Abstract  Abstract

PURPOSE: A location system is provided to eliminate an extra network cost by reducing location traffic loads and measurement calculation loads. CONSTITUTION: The location system has communication terminals(101,105) and location networks(102-104). The communication terminals(101,105) transmit a location request specifying a target mobile terminal and a type of location information. In response to the location request, when the type of location information of the received request specifies current location information and transmits current location information to the communication terminals(101,105), the location networks(102-104) produce current location information of the target mobile terminal and store last known location information in a memory as last known location information of the target mobile terminal. If the type of location information specifies last known location information, stored last known location information of the target mobile terminal is copied from the memory and is transmitted to the communication terminals(101,105) if the location request is verified by a privacy check and if stored information is reusable.
