Abstract  Abstract

The first embodiment is an application server automatic access (ASAA) server. The network service identifier circuit is configured to identify a network service available to a wireless transmit / receive unit (WTRU). The receiving circuit is configured to receive a request for communication with the WTRU. The network identifier circuit is configured to identify an access network through which the WTRU can communicate and determine a preferred access network. The paging mechanism is configured to send paging to the WTRU over the identified radio access network. The routing device is configured to route communications to / from the WTRU through the preferred access network.

The second embodiment is a WTRU operating with an ASAA server. The circuit establishes a radio frequency (RF) link with one of the plurality of access networks. Data processing circuitry is configured to process data to / from the access network. The ASAA coupling circuit is configured to provide a communication link to the ASAA server.
