Abstract  Abstract

A first embodiment is an Application Server Autonomous Access (ASAA) server. A network services identifier circuit is configured to identify network services available to a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). A receiver circuit is configured to receive a request for communication with the WTRU. A network identifier circuit is configured to identify the access networks with which the WTRU can communicate and determine a preferred access network.A pager mechanism is configured to issue pages to the WTRU through the identified wireless access networks. A routing device is configured to route communications to and from the WTRU via the preferred access network. A second embodiment is a WTRU which works with an ASAA server. A circuit establishes a radio frequency (RF) link with any of a plurality of access networks. A data processing circuit is configured to process data to and from said access networks. An ASAA association circuit is configured to provide a communication link to an ASAA server.
