Abstract  Abstract

Embodiments of the present invention relate to a method in user equipment 10 for transmitting uplink control information to a wireless base station in time slots within a subframe via a wireless channel. The wireless channel is arranged to carry uplink control information, wherein the user equipment and the wireless base station are included in the wireless communication network. Uplink control information is included in the block of bits. The user equipment maps the block of bits to a sequence of complex valued modulation symbols. The user equipment also block spreads a sequence of complex valued modulation symbols across the DFTS-OFDM symbols. This is done by applying a spreading sequence to a sequence of complex valued modulation symbols to obtain a block spreaded sequence of complex valued modulation symbols. The user equipment further converts a block spread sequence of complex valued modulation symbols per DFTS-OFDM symbol. This is done by applying a matrix that depends on the DFTS-OFDM symbol index and / or slot index to a block spread sequence of complex valued modulation symbols. The user equipment also sends the block spread sequence of the transformed complex valued modulation symbols to the wireless base station over the wireless channel.
