Abstract  Abstract

A method of establishing an enhanced security context between a remote station and a serving network is disclosed. In that method, the remote station forwards the first message to the serving network, and the first message includes an information element signaling that the remote station supports enhanced security context. The remote station uses the information element to generate at least one session key, in accordance with the enhanced security context. The remote station, in response to the first message, receives a second message with an indication that the serving network supports enhanced security context. The remote station has wireless communication protected by the at least one session key in response to the second message.
