Abstract
1. A method for performing a random access procedure over a radio interface, comprising the following steps in a mobile terminal, in which! transmit (404) a synchronization request for synchronization information; ! receive (406) synchronization information in response to a synchronization request; ! transmitting (408) based on at least one transmission parameter adjusted in accordance with the synchronization information, a resource request for data transmission resources; and! using a timer mechanism providing an indication related to the validity of at least one transmission parameter used by the mobile terminal to support synchronization of the mobile terminal. ! 2. The method according to claim 1, additionally containing stages in which! receive resource information in response to a resource request; and! transmit data using resources in accordance with resource information. ! 3. The method according to claim 2, comprising the step of transmitting (408), if additional data is to be transmitted (410), at least one additional request for resources. ! 4. The method according to any one of claims 1 to 3, comprising the step of starting the synchronization timer in response to at least one of: receiving synchronization information or transmitting data. ! 5. The method according to claim 4, in which the synchronization timer is set according to the predicted validity of the synchronization information. ! 6. The method according to claim 4, in which the synchronization timer is set according to the measured moving speed of the mobile terminal. ! 7. The method according to claim 4, in which an additional synchronization request is transmitted after the expiration of the synchronization timer. ! 8.
