Abstract  Abstract

A dedicated uplink control channel report structure includes a plurality of different bit-size reports, for example 1-bit, 3-bit and 4-bit reports, to report backlog information of a groups wireless queue terminal. uplink traffic requests. Smaller bit size reports are transmitted more frequently than larger reports. A 1-bit request report indicates whether or not there are some MAC information frames to be communicated in a set of two queues in the request group. A 3-bit request report indicates an amount of backlog information that corresponds to a first set of queues in the request group and a second set of queues in the request group. A 4-bit request report indicates an amount of backlog information that corresponds to a set of queues in the request group. The 4-bit request report is able to report the information on any of a plurality of queues in the uplink traffic channel request group that are maintained by the wireless terminal.
