Abstract  Abstract

The uplink dedicated control channel reporting structure provides a plurality of different bit size reports, eg, 1-bit, 3-bit and 4-bit reports, for reporting backlog information of wireless terminals in the uplink traffic request group queue. Contains. Smaller bit size reports are sent more frequently than larger reports. The 1-bit request report indicates whether there are any MAC frames of information to be communicated in a set of two request group queues. The 3-bit request report indicates the amount of backlog information corresponding to the first set of request group queues and the second set of request group queues. The 4-bit request report indicates the amount of backlog information corresponding to a set of request group queues. The 4-bit request report may also report information about any of the multiple uplink traffic channel request group queues held by the wireless terminal.
