Abstract  Abstract

PROCESS FOR MINIMIZING RADIO SIGNAL INTERFERENCE, MULTIPLE SERVICES MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, AND, MOBILE RADIO TERMINAL FOR USE IN THAT SYSTEM. It is a process and an apparatus for assigning radio network control to a mobile communications system (10) that offers two or more types of subscriber services (14, 16). The mobile network (12) broadcasts an initial control message that orders that certain mobile terminals (20) suspend the use of their normal terminal-based radio network control decisions and accept radio network control orders from the mobile network terrestrial (12). A subsequent control message may order the use of normal terminal-based radio network control decisions. Consequently, the mobile network (12) can use virtually the same control logic for all mobile terminals (18, 20) served by it, regardless of the type of subscriber service (14, 16) being transported. As a result, radio signal interference between mobile terminals (18, 20) carrying different subscriber services (14, 16) can be minimized.
