Abstract  Abstract

METHODS OF PERFORMING A RANDOM ACCESS PROCEDURE OVER A RADIO INTERFACE and PROVIDE A RANDOM ACCESS CHANNEL TO A RADIO INTERFACE COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCT MOBILE TERMINAL and RADIO BASE STATION OF the present invention relates to a technique for performing a random access procedure over a radio interface (106) to a mobile terminal (102). A preferred embodiment of method of random access procedure as executed in the mobile terminal includes the steps of selecting a time interval of access for transmission of a burst of access (112) by radio interface; and securing a bandwidth for transmission of the access burst of access wherein the access bandwidth is set smaller than an available transmission bandwidth associated with the radio interface.

The invention relates to a technique of performing a random access procedure over a radio interface (106) in a mobile terminal (102). A method embodiment of the random access procedure as performed in the mobile terminal comprises the steps of selecting an access time slot for transmission of an access burst (112) over the radio interface; and setting an access bandwidth for transmission of the access burst wherein the access bandwidth is set smaller than an available transmission bandwidth associated with the radio interface.
