Abstract  Abstract

The invention claims a method for performing handover in communication system with a mobile station comprising the steps as follows: transmitting a handover request message to the serving base station when it is detected that a performance of a handover is necessary; then receiving a first handover response message from the serving base station wherein the first handover response message comprises at least one adjacent base station list capable of providing a service to the mobile station; and transmitting a handover indication message containing handover cancel information to the serving base station when the mobile station determines a cancel of the handover wherein the handover indication message containing handover cancel information represents that the mobile station expects to cancel the handover to any one adjacent base station of the received list and expects to receive a new list for the at least one adjacent base station capable of providing a service to the mobile station.
