Abstract
PURPOSE: A method for forcibly performing handover in a broadband mobile communication system is provided to perform handover between base stations to guarantee mobility of a user terminal. CONSTITUTION: A serving BS(840) transmits an MOB_NBR_ADV message to an MSS(Mobile Subscriber Station)(800)(811). The MSS(800) transmits an MOB_SCN_REQ message to the serving BS(840)(813). The serving BS(840) transmits an MOB_SCN_RSP message to the MSS(800)(815). The MSS(800) performs CINR(Carrier to Interference and Noise Ratio) scanning on pilot channel signals corresponding to a scan interval(817). When the MSS(800) determines handover(819), the serving BS(840) transmits an HO_notification message to first and second target BSs(860,880)(821,823). When the target BSs(860,880) transmits each HO_notification_response message to the serving BS(840)(825,827). the serving BS(840) determines the second target BS as suitable for handover and transmits an HO_NOTIFICATION_CONFIRM message to the second target BS(880)(829) and then transmits a list of the handover-available target BS(880) through a MOB_HO_RSP message to the MSS(800)(831). Upon receiving the MOB_HO_RSP message including forcible handover, the MSS(800) transmits a MOB_HO_IND message to the serving BS(840)(833), releases a link to the serving BS(840)(835) and starts connection to the corresponding handover target BS(880)(837).
