Abstract  Abstract

The invention relates to user equipment and a method for resource allocation and device-to-device hopping discovery. In some embodiments, the UE may receive a signaling indicating resource discovery from an evolved node B (eNB) to transmit a discovery signal within a LTE operating range. The discovery signal may include a discovery range, which may include multiple physical resource blocks (PRBs)and multiple subframes. The UE may transmit the discovery signals which are received by one or more other UEs, and is used for D2D discovery within some PRBs of the discovery range. The PRB used to transmit the discovery signal may be determined based on a hopping mode, to provide increased frequency diversity within a bandwidth of the discovery range. The hopping mode may include hops within a subframe, hops between subframes, or hops in/among joint subframes.
