Audio encoder comprising a spectral decomposer (10) for spectrally decomposing, using an MDCT, an input audio signal (12) in a spectrogram (14) of a sequence of spectra; an autocorrelation computer (50) configured to calculate an autocorrelation of a current spectrum of the spectrum sequence; a linear prediction coefficient computer (52) configured to calculate linear prediction coefficients based on the correlation; a spectral domain former (22) configured to spectrally form the current spectrum based on the linear prediction coefficients and a quantification stage (24) configured to quantify the spectrally formed spectrum; wherein the audio encoder is configured to insert information relative to the spectrally formed spectrum and information relative to the linear prediction coefficients in a data stream, where the autocorrelation computer is configured to calculate the autocorrelation of the current spectrum, calculate the power spectrum of the current spectrum and subject the power spectrum to a reverse ODFT transform.
