A method implemented by a wireless transmission / reception unit, WTRU, (105), to release a persistent resource, the method comprising: receiving a downlink control physical channel transmission (115), PDCCH, wherein the transmission of PDCCH comprises an indication of a release of a persistent resource and the indication of the release of the persistent resource is applicable to one of a persistent downlink resource or a persistent uplink resource; characterized by: implicitly confirming the release of the persistent resource provided that the indication of the release of the persistent resource is applicable to the persistent uplink resource; and transmit a positive acknowledgment indicating that the indication of the release of the persistent resource has been received on condition that the indication of the release of the persistent resource is applicable to the persistent downlink resource.
