Abstract  Abstract

A method of decoding video quantification parameters to decode a quantization parameter for a video decoding process, the method of decoding video quantification parameters based on adaptive binary arithmetic coding based on context and comprising: generating a predicted quantification parameter from a past reconstructed quantification parameter; decode in binary arithmetic a first bin that indicates whether the delta quantification parameter is significant or not; and decode in binary arithmetic, in cases where the value of the first bin indicates that the delta quantification parameter is significant, a sign bin that indicates whether the delta quantization parameter is positive or negative, and other bin that indicate a value absolute of the delta quantification parameter, characterized in that binary arithmetic decoding is performed without using any context for the sign bin and using a context for each of the first bin and the other bin.
