Abstract  Abstract

(57) (Summary)
The present invention provides a method of conformance testing of a secondary station for use in a wireless communication system permitting a soft handover process in which the secondary station communicates with a plurality of primary stations. The method allows for testing the secondary stations response to power control commands simultaneously input from each of a plurality of primary stations instructing the secondary station to adjust the output transmit power. In particular, the method makes it possible to test the secondary stations assessment of the reliability of the power control commands input from each primary station, which was not previously possible. This test is performed by transmitting a known sequence of power control commands from each of the primary stations to the secondary station, and then comparing the pattern of actual and expected changes in output transmit power.
