Abstract  Abstract

The present invention provides a method for conformity checking of a secondary station for use in a radio communication system that allows a secondary station to undergo a soft handover process engaged in communication with a plurality of primary stations. The method allows the secondary station to examine the secondary stations response to a power control command received simultaneously from each of the plurality of primary stations instructing the secondary station to adjust its output transmit power. In particular, the method makes it possible to examine the evaluation of the secondary station for the reliability of the power control command received from each primary station, which was not possible before. The check is performed by sending a known sequence of power control commands from the primary station to the secondary station, thus comparing the actual pattern of change in the output transmit power with the expected pattern of change.
