Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for processing data blocks that can acquire normally a transmitted perfect set in a soft handover macro diversity operation.

SOLUTION: The method and the apparatus for processing data blocks during soft handover constitute a radio communication system 100 including at least two enhanced uplink soft handover node-B and a radio network controller (RNC). Each Node-B 110 decodes a received data block and forwards the decoded data block to the RNC 105. When the RNC 105 receives at least one copy of a successfully decoded data block the RNC 105 uses a re-ordering function entity to process the copy of the successfully decoded data block to support in-sequence delivery to higher protocol layers. When the RNC receives two or more copy of a successfully decoded data block the RNC discards the extra successfully decoded data block copies.
