Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellular communication system and method for broadcast communication.

SOLUTION: A cellular communication system has a management logic arranged to support a common cell identifier reuse pattern for broadcast transmissions among a plurality of communication cells. A first wireless serving communication unit and a second wireless serving communication unit use the common cell identifier reuse pattern for broadcast transmissions. At least one wireless communication units detects broadcast communication from the first serving wireless communication unit and the second serving wireless communication unit and the broadcast communication is allocated to a first timeslot 350 or a first sub-frame on the basis of it being more robust to multipath delay due to temporal dispersion of the same broadcast signal from the plurality of wireless serving communication units.
